International Portland Select FC (IPSFC) is one of the most prestigious amateur soccer clubs in the Portland metro area. As the name reflects, IPSFC is a multinational club with its current roster comprised of players born in 16 different countries. It is a not-for-profit organization.
IPSFC was founded in 1996 when manager Pat Kirk re-branded his previous club, Southport United, and entered the team in the newly found Oregon Premier Soccer League (OPSL), which he co-founded with current head coach Harvey Hurst and Director of Soccer Jerry Fay, winning many OPSL league trophies over the years.
The club has also participated in the Kennedy Cup, a tournament featuring top amateur teams from all over Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia, taking home the trophy in 2010, 2012, and 2014. The US National Adult Soccer Association National Cup Region IV tournament has invited IPSFC to participate multiple times since 2009. Furthermore, IPSFC was accepted into the preliminary rounds of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup in 2016-2017. On an individual level, IPSFC players have competed at high levels including Major League Soccer, the North American Soccer League, and top Division I soccer programs.
